Elkford Child Development Society Educators

Robyn Dennys, Director
(I/T – ECE -SNE)

Robyn moved to BC in 2013 (Golden BC) from Ontario. She just moved to the Elk Valley in the Spring of 2021. On her spare time you can find her outdoors doing what her and her family love best; mountain biking, snowboarding, camping, and hiking. Robyn is also an avid ‘yogi’ and is a certified Yoga Teacher as well. She has found it to be extremely beneficial even in child care settings & tries to incorporate it as much as possible.

Robyn has been working in the Early Years field for over 10 years. She graduated with an English & Sociology Degree in 2012, then completed her Early Childhood Education, Infant/Toddler & Special Needs Diploma shortly after. Since then she has been working in child care settings for several years.

Teddi-Jo Rosler
(ECE)

Teddi was born and raised on a farm in the valley Sparwood specifically, and while she wanted to get out quick when she was younger, it was obvious this was her forever home and returned shortly after she finished her college program. Teddi started schooling as an English major but soon found my passion lay in childcare as she found herself childminding in my home to be such a pleasure during my stay-at-home mom days. I’m now working hard to complete my ECE certificate. Elkford has been the best place for my family as we love the outdoors, and my partner grew up here. The mountains are our home. I also like to think I have a creative side and enjoy using my hands to paint, write and all the way to making soaps.

Brooke Potter
(ECE-A)

Brooke is from Cranbrook, BC and has recently moved to Elkford full time. She has a step-son who just turned 8 years old who keeps her busy. Her and her family enjoy hiking, camping, lake days and being outdoors as a family as much as possible.

Brooke worked at a group home for the developmentally delayed and elderly as a care-aid, and recently decided it was time for a change. Brooke has always loved children, and it led to taking her Early Childhood Education Assistant course. Brooke hopes to continue on the path of becoming a fully licensed Early Childhood Educator.

Read some more about our amazing Educators...

Robyn is a calm force to be reckoned with, her knowledgeable mind and caring heart have provided us with and exceptional mentor that always treats us with the utmost respect. She is kind and welcoming with everyone of our questions and she tackles any obstacle before us with enthusiasm and dedication. Her organization skills are admirable and I for one love when she offers to organize our room. The children in the 3-5 program and myself have taken to referring to her as the sleep master( trophy in the making) because she can calm the entire room full of rambunctious preschoolers and put even the most wiggly and giggly child fall asleep with only a soft touch. We are grateful for the wisdom she shares and the level head she brings when a rough situation arises. We are so thankful for her and her amazing guidance.

Teddi is an extremely patient, kind and nurturing soul. She makes a point to get to know each individual child the best she can so that she can build solid relationships with each of them. The children adore Teddi, including all the children in the infant/toddler room (they instantly yell in excitement when they see her!) Teddi is a natural early childhood educator and it is evident that she LIVES for this career. I can always hear her playing with the children showing her inner-child, no wonder they love her! Teddi is always preparing fun, yet educational activities for the children which they love & I can hear the joy in their voices. Not only is she an exceptional ECE, but her work ethic is impeccable. We don’t know what we would do without her!

Brooke is such a loving, kind, and nurturing educator. She truly loves to just be on the floor with the children playing / building connections with each and every one of them. Her face lights up when a child gives her a hug and blows her kisses (which is multiple times a day, everyday!) Brooke takes pride in her work and her interactions with the children reflect this immensely. We all know toddlers aren’t the easiest age to care for (imagine 8 of them!), but Brooke’s calm and determined demeanour doesn’t allow for a “bad day” and instead puts on a smile and takes it one step at a time. Brooke is an excellent role model for the children in her care with demonstrating her natural compassionate and empathetic persona. She is an outstanding early childhood educator & we are all grateful to have her as a coworker!

Jennifer is a natural leader and is always on the ball with being organized, planning fun/ educational lessons, and making sure the program runs smoothly(she must have been a teacher in her past life!)
Jennifer is extremely patient, nurturing and kind. The children sense her calming vibe which is why I honestly believe the I/T room is as “calm” as it is. She also does an excellent job observing the room/environment and seems to know exactly how to plan the day accordingly based on the child(ren)s needs. She has a great way of encouraging independence & helping children to develop into strong and competent people. Jen is an excellent and admirable educator along with being an amazing co-worker!

Sarah is a great addition to our team. She is personable, outgoing and fun which is key to working with children. Having three children of her own, she naturally has a lot of patience. Her 10 years of experience planning and facilitating playgroups for children ages 0-6 really shines when she’s on the floor with the children. We also love her desire to keep the centre clean and organized since you can all imagine how messy this place can get! We can always count on her to help us out in all areas! Although she is our casual/sub staff right now, we can’t wait until she can be with us full time! Thank you for all that you do for us!!
